Inverclyde Amateur Swimming Club

Welcome to the Club's new website, which has been adopted to assist the Club to communicate, advise and promote swimming as a positive activity within the local community.

The Club is committed, in conjunction with the Inverclyde Leisure Trust, to providing the resources for any child to attain their potential within a friendly & supportive environment.

The Club's aim is not to product Champions,

but to create an environment in which Champions are inevitable

Club History

Inverclyde ASC was formed in approximately 1978 from two clubs who had, had a long history of success within the GB and Scottish Swim scene.

The Two clubs involved were the Greenock ASC (founded in 1964) and the Port Glasgow Baths ASC (founded in the early 1900's).

Since its inception, the new club has had a chequered career in terms of competitive success at both national and District levels.

This success has included both national Championships and representatives within the National Team.

Despite these fluctuations in success, the Club has continued to work extremely hard in maintaining a quality service, in terms of teaching both water skills and water safety to the children within the local community it serves.

Since October 2004, the Club Management Committee have been involved in an ongoing reappraisal of the services it provides in terms of both quality and effectiveness of the teaching / coaching practices and the related administration support.

The outcome being that the Club's ability groups and related swim sessions, have been re-structured.  A land conditioning programme has been introduced to the top two groups and grant aid has been applied for in order to support a personal swim education development programme for the volunteer teaching and coaching staff.

It is anticipated that these actions will make a major contribution in ensuring that the Club will continue to provide, in the first instance, a high quality service to its members.  Secondly, this provision of a quality service will assist in the promotion of swimming as an activity and lay the foundation towards success at a competitive level.
